Madibeng finance chief in firing line More than 100 employees of the Local Municipality of Madibeng, who are also members of the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU), last Thursday deman-ded the removal from office of the Acting Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the municipality. This follows allegations of abuse of both employees and service providers to the municipality as well as her alleged refusal to spend any funds on service delivery. Read more ... Emergency measures stop sewage spillage Emergency measures implemented at the end of last week and over the weekend brought an end to the massive spillage of raw sewage into the Hartbeespoort Dam. Pumps were removed, repaired and reinstalled and the sewage is now reaching the waste water treatment plant in Rietfontein. Measures were also implemented at the plant to ensure that the sewage now pumped there, is processed. Read more ...
